Courageous Advocacy

Courageous Advocacy is about encouraging children to become agents of change—helping them grow into compassionate, informed, and confident individuals who are willing to speak up when they see injustice, whether in their local community or around the world. 

Courageous advocacy is closely connected to our school values of courage, compassion, respect, and wisdom. It encourages children to have the courage to speak up when something is unfair, the compassion to care about the experiences and needs of others, the respect to listen to different voices and stand alongside those who may not be heard, and the wisdom to think critically about the world around them. By living out these values, pupils are empowered to become thoughtful advocates who seek justice and positive change in their communities and beyond. 

Culture:
At Northern Saints we foster a culture where children feel safe and confident to express their opinions, raise concerns, and question unfairness. Teachers and staff act as allies, encouraging respectful discussion and modelling what it means to stand up for others. 

Curriculum Design:
Our curriculum explores important themes such as racial equality, identity, gender equality, and environmental responsibility. Through our RSHE curriculum, children are empowered to celebrate their own identity while understanding their role in ensuring that everyone feels accepted and able to be their authentic, unique self. As a ‘No Outsiders’ school, we embed diverse texts and resources across our curriculum to promote inclusion and belonging. 

Pupil Leadership:
Pupil leadership opportunities through our pupil parliament, including our mini senior leadership team,  School Council, Worship leaders, eco committee, sports leaders, librarians and Cyber squad empower children to lead initiatives and advocate for positive change within the school community.  

At Northern Saints we are also proud to take part in the Superkind programme, which inspires children to take action for causes they care about and make a meaningful difference in the world around them.
